Surya Top – Summit with Enchanting Views
Surya-top is geodynamically ensconced non-technical summit, right in the middle of much-loved Bugyal of Dayara and Gidara in Uttarkashi region of Uttarakhand. It is an easy-to-trek-peak affording eye-popping views of Bandar-Poonch-Massif with twin summits at whispering distance and Kalanag peak peeping from behind on the western horizon, Gangotri range overlooking at the luxuriant expanse of Dayara and Gidara Bugyal form the eastern horizon.
This peregrination of half-a-fortnight is a true immersion into primeval Himalayan oak forest interspersed with small ponds and herder’s shack of bucolic culture with transhumance tradition. Thus, making this trek a special one to experience. Grazing cattle and sheep on Bugyal and mountain slope present a prehistoric glimpse, thus connecting us to the past when our ancestors were nomad and their lineage (us) has continued the tradition with modern contraption and exciting pursuit called trekking.

Day #1
Your city – Dehradun Airport/ Haridwar, Rishikesh or Dehradun Railhead – Barsu Village
Reach Dehradun/Haridwar/Rishikesh by morning flight/overnight train from your city. Forty-five minutes cab ride to Sahastradhara helipad from where you are further sortied to Chinyalisaur airstrip (recommended) by Helicopter service.
Or 5-6 hours surface journey to Barsu village.
Road journey to Barsu village through lovely landscapes and countryside with a pit-stop at a stunning location en-route to binge on picnic lunch. Overnight in Barsu village in camp/ Guest House
Day #2
Barsu village – Pichhkiya Glade
Rise and shine with view of Srikanth. Start ascending through Himalayan Forest canopy where sunlight struggles to reach forest floor. Expect to encounter Asiatic black bear and Himalayan Tahr and rich birdlife, four to five hours climb shall take us to the campsite, overnight.Day #3
Pichhkiya Glade – Siyaari (a treeline and alpine meadow interface)
Rise and shine with the trill of rich birdlife and keep your senses aware for the Himalayan wildlife such as Asiatic black bear, Himalayan Thar and Himalayan grey langur. With every hour’s ascent view starts opening up from Utron Dhar (a ridgeline). Overnight at Shyari camp at the heels of Surya TopDay #4
Siyaari – Devkund via Surya Top
Summit day begins rather early in the morning to hit the Surya top at Sunrise and be overwhelmed as the Sun cast its first rays on the snowy ramparts with jagged spires, back to the camp for breakfast and trek back to Devkund a beautiful camp by a small lake surrounded by interesting rhododendron forest. Devkund – Bharnala/Chilapada
We walk past Dayara Bugyal with grand view of snowy realms and reach either Bharnala or Chilapada campsiteDay #6
Bharnala/Chilapada to Barsu/Raithal
After feasting our senses with heart stopping vista and nature’s interplay with a continuous descend to the either Barsu or Raithal village to finish our trek and avail creature’s comfort after nomad mountain life. Overnight in guest house/ Sarai/ HomestayDay #7
resume journey back to Dehradun airport/ Railhead to Rishikesh or Haridwar to board a flight or train of your respective destinations
