Dayara Bugyal Trek with Harshil and Nilong Valley Extension

Dayara Bugyal (an alpine meadow), is among a few trekking destinations that can be accessed round the year. Depending on one’s taste, weather you are a flower freak, ski buff or love trekking, Dayara Bugyal fulfills all your dreams.

Bucolic culture and transhumance tradition still exists in its primordial form in and around this trek. Trail to Bugyal has been winded in summer by generations to exploit bounty and munificence it offers. From Gujjar community of Terai region to the villagers in the vicinity, all move with their livestock to Dayara meadows. The landscape can be seen dotted with their thatched roof huts. Some fifty miles upstream of Uttarkashi is a one-horse town Harshil that is famous for crisp mountain breeze, traditional hill architecture, sprawling apple orchard, charismatic landscapes to explore and a short hike to the iconic Lama top for the bird’s eye view of Harshil valley.
Mesmerizing Nilong valley with inner line permit proviso make it special place for a day visit. Get to experience the trans-Himalayan landscape by driving through beautifully carved out road on bleak precipices by defense apparatus Border Road Organization. Since it is part of the Gangotri National Park, there are chances of encountering snow leopard, brown bear, blue sheep and palearctic birdlife.
